We all missed the girls and were excited to get back to a normal routine. Be sure to read all e-mails from Duchesne about changes of dates to make up some of our missed days. For example - this month - Columbus Day - Oct. 13 will be a Normal School Day - NO Holiday!!!
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be scheduled individually by the teachers at times convenient for parents. Friday Oct. 3rd will be a regular school day and we will celebrate the invention of the "Ice Cream Cone"!!!!
Field Trips - First Grade will have their annual trip to the Oil Ranch on Wednesday, Oct. 8th. They always come back with lots of pumpkins and lots of fun stories of their adventures with the animals and hay rides!! Kindergarten will be going to Main St. Theater to see "If You Give a Pig a Party!" on Wed. Oct. 29th

SOCIAL AWARENESS: We have several ongoing projects in Lower School.
1. We continue to collect the little pink Box Tops for Education. Please continue bringing these in. Go to: http://www.boxtops4education.com/AboutBoxTops/
to find out which products carry these coupons. You can even collect Box Tops when you shop online at select stores. The money we collect will go to a local school in need.
2. We are also collecting the pink lids from Yoplait yogurt to benefit Breast Cancer Research.
3. When you pop that can to drink a soda or fruit juice - pull the tab off and collect it in a cup. Bring the tabs to school and you will help the Ronald McDonald House in Houston.
4. Again this year, to honor St. Francis of Assisi, we will be collecting dog and cat food. This food will go to the Adult Protective Services so that the elderly will not have to spend their money on their special friends and go hungry themselves. We will have a special Assembly on Monday, Oct. 6th where the girls will bring all the food they have collected to the Bayou Room. It is always exciting to see how much they bring!!
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR HELPING US IN THESE CAUSES!!
REMINDER:
You can keep up to date with the Lower School by going to the Duchesne website. Calendars, activities and picture essays of special events can be found there.
Also - don't forget to sign up for the Duchesne list serve if you haven't already done so. If your e-mail has changed over the summer - be sure to update it also. Most Lower School correspondence is through this list serve so it is VERY IMPORTANT that you keep the e-mail current.
