Our campus has two libraries to serve the Duchesne community. The Sister Lamy Library is located in the Lower School and welcomes children to listen to stories, select books and learn about things that interest them.
The Middle/Upper School Library provides a strong mix of research opportunities thru print and electronic resources, as well as books for leisure reading, art displays, speakers, authors, and special exhibits. A comfortable environment encourages students to read a book, study, work on projects or even play chess. The Library classroom is used by the librarians to teach Information Literacy and houses an extensive collection of print references.
Both libraries are staffed by Librarians who teach Research and Information Literacy through the curriculum and plan programs such as author visists, Universal Reading Day, Book Fair, and the celebration of Banned Book Week.
Students at Duchesne have access to a full range of electronic resources that serve all grade levels. The electronic resources range from encyclopedias to high level academic indexes, a universal catalog that shows all holdings from both libraries including pre-selected web sites for student work and are available thru the Library web page at all times. |
