Admissions

Admission is based upon the student’s ability to succeed at Duchesne Academy and the family’s commitment to the philosophy of our school. The process includes an interview with the student and her parents, her visitation at Duchesne, satisfactory performance on entrance tests, a satisfactory transcript report, writing samples, and recommendations from her previous school.

An important aspect of a Sacred Heart education is the opportunity for a student to grow with others who come to Duchesne from a variety of social and economic backgrounds.  To encourage this diversity, the school offers financial aid to qualified students with demonstrated need.

Interviews and campus tours are available by appointment throughout the year.  For more information or to arrange a visit to the school, please call the Admissions Office.

Re-enrollment Review

The school expects students to meet the academic standards and to conform to the school’s rules and expectations to retain their places.  The school reserves the right to refuse admission to a student or to call for the immediate withdrawal of a student whose presence is considered detrimental to the school’s best interests.  The school reserves re-enrollment for students who have shown good work, effort, and attitude.  The school reserves re-enrollment for families willing to cooperate with the school.

Students with serious academic or discipline problems might not be invited to return to the school.  Some students may only return on probation.  Provisions of academic or disciplinary probation may entail mandatory tutoring, counseling, or an improved discipline record in the coming school year.

Before issuing an enrollment contract to a student in the school, the teachers and administrators review the student’s academic and discipline records and the family’s spirit of cooperation with school staff.

Withdrawal
Parents are asked to notify the Head of School, in writing, when planning to withdraw children from the school.  The school will send transcripts and other necessary information to the student’s new school after all financial obligations are met.  A parent is obligated to complete payments for the school year as outlined in the Financial Obligation Contract.
