Advanced Credit from Middle School
Students may receive Upper School credit for Algebra I, French I, and Spanish I taken in the eighth grade, if they successfully complete level II in Upper School. In this case, students must take three additional credits of mathematics and complete the third level of a foreign language in Upper School. Students may also receive credit for speech taken in the eighth grade.
Advanced Placement Courses
Students may elect to take Advanced Placement courses with the recommendation of the appropriate teacher and the approval of the Upper School Head. All AP courses at Duchesne have been audited and approved by the College Board.
· Students taking Advanced Placement courses are advised not to seek or accept employment either after school or on weekends.
· All AP students are expected to take the National AP Exams in May. The AP Exam does not take the place of the final semester exam.
· Students are not required to attend classes on the day they take Advanced Placement exams.
· Students other than seniors are required to attend classes in the discipline following completion of the Advanced Placement exam in that course. Seniors who are required to take the semester exam must attend class in that subject until the end of the semester.
· Students will receive an additional 0.5 quality point credit at the semester for each Advanced Placement course passed.
