Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic, college preparatory school enrolling girls in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Twelve. Each year, Duchesne conducts The Janet Erskine Stuart Scholarship Competition, specifically for students entering the Ninth Grade. The scholarship is named for a Religious of the Sacred Heart well known for her vision and writings about the education of young women.
The Janet Erskine Stuart Scholarship Awards are made to outstanding students in the Eighth grades of Houston area schools for their Ninth Grade year at Duchesne. The amount of the scholarship grant will be as much as $6,000. Additional financial aid is available for the Ninth grade and for the remaining years of high school for students in good standing. Scholarship recipients will be notified in mid-March, when all admission decisions are mailed.
This scholarship will be awarded to students who can demonstrate the following:
1. Excellent grade reports in Six, Seventh and Eighth Grades.
2. High standardized test scores from the previous two years.
3. Enthusiastic recommendations from teachers and principal.
4. A strong desire to attend Duchesne Academy.

Your daughter's transcripts, testing and teacher recommendations need to be submitted to our school. Qualified students will be invited to visit Duchesne for a day to attend Ninth Grade classes. The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) has been selected by some of the private, independent schools of the Houston area as the common entrance exam. Scholarship applicants are encouraged to take the I.S.E.E. on January 31, 2009 at our school.
