The following information is required before an admission decision will be made to attend Duchesne Academy.
Application
A completed online application for the 2009-2010 school year is required with the non-refundable application fee.
Confidential Teacher Evaluations
To be given to current teacher(s) along with a stamped envelope addressed to Duchesne Academy Admission Office. The teacher is to mail or fax the information directly to the Admission Office of Duchesne Academy.
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
An evaluation is required if the applicant attended a pre-school program.
Grades 1 - 5
An evaluation is required from the student's current homeroom teacher.
Grades 6 - 8
Evaluations from the student's current teachers of math and English are required.
Grades 9 - 12
Evaluations from the student's current teachers of English, math and school principal are required.
Transcripts
Copies of transcripts, report cards and school records for the current year and previous two school years and the results of all standardized testing are required for admission prior to acceptance. If the student is accepted, Duchesne must receive official school transcripts prior to her attendance.
Testing
Once application and fee are received, PK-4 students will be notified of testing dates. Middle (5-8) and Upper (9-12) School students register for the ISEE test online at www.iseetest.org. The Houston area schools that administer the ISEE test give a variety of dates that are available to take the test, click Houston ISEE for the list of testing sites & dates. You may take the test anytime before mid-February in order to be considered for first round decisions in March.
Pre-Kindergarten - Fourth Grade
Monday-Friday - Tested individually by appointment
Grades 5 - 12
Saturday - Testing in age appropriate groups beginning in January
Applicants will complete a writing sample/essay on test day.
Visits and Interviews
Visits and Interviews for students applying for Grades 5 - 12 are arranged after the student has achieved a qualifying score on the entrance test.

Kindergarten - Grade 4
Group Visit on Saturday
Grades 5 - 12 (on a weekday, as arranged by Middle or Upper School)
Middle School visit 7:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Upper School All-Day Visit 7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Interviews:
Parent interviews are requested for families that are new to Duchesne Academy. You will be contacted by the Admission Office or Division Head to schedule an appointment. Student interviews are conducted as follows:
Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 4
Interview at the time of admission testing
Grades 5 - 12
Interview on the day of testing or school visitation (as arranged)
Decisions
The Admission Committee will review each applicant's file and notification of its decision will be mailed by mid-March. Students who are offered enrollment must respond to Duchesne Academy within three weeks of the date of the acceptance letter.
Offers of admission are made contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the school year. Satisfactory official school records, including final report card for the current school year ending in June, must be received by the Registrar prior to attending Duchesne Academy.
