Charger Softball Player voted to Post-Season Honors - Freshman Lauren Mercado was honored this morning by being selected to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Second Team All-State Softball Team. To qualify for this award, Lauren was previously select by District 3-6A Coaches for a position on the All-District First Team. Congratulations to Lauren and the whole Duchesne Softball Team for being selected for your play on the field. Go Charger Softball!
Shannon Klenke in running for Top State Honor - Freshman Shannon Klenke was nominated by the District 3-6A Athletic Directors for TAPPS Female Athlete Of The Year. This young lady distinguished herself in three sports at the local and state TAPPS levels. In Cross Country, she finished 5th at the State Meet. In Soccer she was named 1st team All-District and 2nd Team All-State as a Midfielder. And finally in Track she completed the season as State Champion in the 3200M Run and Runner-up in the 1600M Run, as well as being District Champion in both events. Regardless of whether she wins or not, this has been a very good year for Shannon and Duchesne.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Duchesne Athletics by following our terrific students as they learn how to balance academics with athletics. The Spirit of the Sacred Heart is evident as we all have the opportunity to watch these young ladies learn and grow in their sport. Our coaches are a blessing, too, as they patiently work with their athletes to push them to work on their skills and their teamwork. It is beautiful thing to watch when it happens. I need to thank our Booster Club which has provided this athletic department with perspective and financial help as we continue to develop and improve our sports programs. Please make sure you Thank Michael Rudin and his officers for their endless efforts on our behalf. And finally, I need to "Thank" Paul Mayhew for all of his patience and support for our athletic programs and our facilities. He tirelessly did so much work behind the scenes keeping us on track with his wisdom and wit. We will miss you.
I hope everyone has an eventful summer and returns to Duchesne ready to Cheer On Our Chargers!
